AMMA recognises ESS Village Life
Compass Group’s dedicated Offshore and Remote sector brand ESS has received the 2016 Workforce Innovation Award from the Australian Mines and Metals Association (AMMA) in recognition of
creative and strategic efforts to overcome workforce challenges and deliver quality outcomes for communities and individuals in the resources industry.
ESS won the award for ‘Village Life’ – a holistic approach to mine accommodation villages designed to enhance resident quality of life.
Drawing on extensive resident research, conducted in conjunction with Edith Cowan University, the ESS Village Life concept has raised the bar for FIFO living, incorporating urban lifestyle and design elements to create remote communities where residents feel at home.
ESS Executive Director – Offshore and Remote, John Sheridan, (pictured above with General Manager ESS Customer Service and Innovation, Linda Hitchmough), says Compass Group is very proud to receive this award.
"Healthy food, retail outlets, flexible quality accommodation and varied sport and recreation options all ombine to foster social interaction and a thriving sense of community. Resident feedback has been very positive supporting our clients’ workforce retention goals. The concept is agile and adaptive and constantly evolving. With 40 years’ experience in the resources sector we recognise every site is different and offer a broad suite of cost effective options that can be tailored to the environment and scaled up or down according to size and scope," John said.
