Supporting Disability Employment Opportunities: meet Emma and Nathan

As one of the core Compass Group Australia Diversity, Equity & Inclusion pillars, we prioritise collaborations and partnerships that support us in providing employment opportunities for people living with disability.   

One such collaboration is with Jobsupport who work with employers to find suitable job opportunities for people with an intellectual disability. Not only do they ensure roles are completely right for the person during the recruitment process, they also provide ongoing training and support at site.  

This partnership has led to the placement of two employees, Emma and Nathan, in the Restaurant Associates pantry team at one of our global financial client sites. Get to know more about them in the Q&As below:  

Emma

When did you join Compass Group Australia? In 2022 Jobsupport found me this job and I’m glad I have it, I love working here. 

What is your role in the team? Keeping everything nice, clean and tidy, putting stuff in the pantry and kitchen for restocking in case anything runs out. You always have to fill up the milk, it goes quickly! 

What part of your role do you enjoy doing most? Doing the fruits, getting them ready for the levels. 

What do you look forward to most about going to work? Seeing my work friends and work buddies, especially Nathan and Cameron because they’re really nice and caring people. I like when my trainer from Jobsupport comes in to visit, she’s really funny.  I also like when we decorate the Xmas tree every year and the kids come, it’s really nice. 

Nathan

When did you join Compass Group Australia? I joined on 29 January 2024, I love working here it’s my first new job from Jobsupport. 

What is your role in the team? Catering Assistant is my role. I go to my kitchens and clean them up and get the coffee machine ready for everyone. 

What part of your role do you enjoy doing most? Talking to people while I clean up the kitchen. 

What do you look forward to most about going to work? I like seeing my work mates and clients on my levels. I like to talk to Cameron and Emma, most of the time we chat about movies and shows. I like it when Mel, my Jobsupport trainer, comes to see me. I’m happy coming here every day with a big smile on my face. 

Emma and Nathan have quickly become integral members of the team at site, and we look forward to working with Jobsupport to welcome more employees in the future.
