Lisa Limonas graduated from Compass Group’s second Launch into Work program in 2019 and says it was a life-changing experience for both herself and her children. Before starting the program, she worked three casual positions and struggled to find full-time work.
We chatted to Lisa about what life’s been like since she graduated from the Launch into Work program…
“After completing my Cert ll in Hospitality and the Launch into Work program, I was thrilled to be offered full-time employment at Spinifex Village where my duties included housekeeping and working in the Shop and Tavern.
In August 2020, I transferred to Varanus Island and ESS put me through TBOSIET (Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) as I take a 30-minute Helicopter flight from Karratha Airport to Varanus Island.
My duties on Varanus Island vary from housekeeping, nightshift mine site cleaning, dining room attendant, serving in the Bar and all-round village site cleaning.
I am proud to say that I am now a home owner and I’ve been able to pay to put my children through high school. Varanus Island is also such a special place to work and to have the opportunity to going swimming and snorkelling in the ocean with the marine life is amazing. I’d like to thank everyone that was involved in the program.”
