Since joining Compass Group Australia (CGA) in 2013, Rachel Moon has stepped into roles with curiosity and a willingness to learn. Starting in a variety of roles and learning the ropes as she went, she quickly developed a passion for the fast-paced, hands-on nature of the industry.
“I never really had a set plan, I just kept saying yes to new opportunities,” Rachel shares. “Every role taught me something new, and that’s what helped me grow.”

Her adaptability and problem-solving skills allowed her to thrive in fast-paced site mobilisations and onboarding. Known for her enthusiasm and ability to get things done, Rachel’s growing experience led her to take on roles first as a Supervisor, then as a Manager. Along the way, she developed a deep understanding of the unique demands of each site, and didn’t hesitate to get hands-on, whether it was coordinating logistics for a new site or tackling year-old coffee stains at a demobilised location to ensure a fresh start.
“Becoming a Manager wasn’t just about a title,” Rachel shares. “It was about shaping new sites, training teams, and making a real difference in how things operated. Working through COVID was an unprecedented time, but it also made me a stronger leader.” Beyond her own success, Rachel has always been eager to support others, offering guidance and practical solutions to her teammates.
A Star Player in the Casual Pool
In 2021, Rachel wanted to go in a new direction and applied for the Casual Pool Coordinator role, embracing the opportunity to gain a broader perspective across the business. This move opened her eyes to the diversity of CGA’s operations—how each site, while upholding the same high standards, has distinct client expectations and operational needs. As a Casual Pool Coordinator, Rachel plays a crucial role in keeping things moving. She ensures the right people are in the right roles at the right time, balancing schedules, handling last-minute changes and supporting staff with any administration queries.
But the role goes beyond logistics, it’s about connection. “As you get to know the sites better, it becomes easier to match the right people with the right locations. That’s what makes the job rewarding,” Rachel explains. “Even though every day is different, what keeps me going is knowing that we’re all working towards the same goal, making life easier and better for everyone.”
A Stellar Achievement
Rachel’s unwavering support for her team sets her apart. Whether collaborating with site management or guiding new team members, she’s known as a reliable and approachable leader. This dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. Over the 12 years she’s been with CGA, Rachel has been nominated for several Star Awards and in 2024, she took home the NSW/ACT Support Services Award for her work in the fast-moving world of our Casual Pool.
“Winning awards has been a humbling experience, but it’s the support from my team and the connections we’ve built that truly make it special.”
