In a Star Awards first, the 2024 National Purpose Award went to an entire ESS Remote team, showing the true power of collaboration. The Origin Energy Portfolio earned the honour for their incredible contribution delivering on our Purpose, to serve a better future by enriching people, communities and our planet.
“It’s a massive achievement,” says Steven Walker, Project Manager – ESS Remote. “This was a team award, celebrating the contributions of everyone involved — catering, administration, cleaning, maintenance, facility management and more. Across the footprint of our two villages and all the different areas surrounding, this win reflects the dedication of every individual on the contract.”
Shining Stars of Community Engagement
Steven also credits their success to the strong partnership they’ve built with Origin Energy. “It’s a collaborative approach,” he explains. “Our relationship with Origin allows us to think creatively and bring ideas to life that benefit the community. They’re very positive to any of our ideas when it comes to social or village activities.”
This teamwork extends beyond day-to-day operations to impactful community initiatives. From hosting activities like Colour Runs and Wear it Purple Day, to running nutrition programs at local schools, the team is making a real difference.
“With Origin’s support, we’ve delivered fruit to schools, provided nutrition education and organised career days to inspire students to explore opportunities in hospitality,” says Steven.

“It’s about creating opportunities and building a culture where everyone feels they’ve made a difference,” Steven shares. “That’s something we’re all incredibly proud of.”
