Care work is the backbone of our community. This Aged Care Employee Day and beyond, we acknowledge our Senior Living workers at Compass Group Australia (CGA). Team members like Lisa King, who work tirelessly to ensure the health and wellbeing of older Australians.
Every day, Lisa King heads into another day working at Storm Retirement Village in the rural, coastal town of Taree in NSW. Her role as Housekeeping Supervisor sees her responsible for the training and supervision of Storm’s cleaning and laundry staff, but she also gets hands-on, assisting with cleaning resident’s rooms, dining rooms, kitchen facilities and so much more.
“I love working in aged care,” shares Lisa. “I love responding
to the needs of the residents to make them comfortable, as well as hearing their wise words and stories while working. There’s such a friendly atmosphere here.”
Senior Living and Aged Care team members take on a lot of responsibility, not just with a duty of care to their residents and ensuring residents feel comfortable in every way, but also in taking time to connect with residents on a personal level.
“Although I love receiving good feedback from my colleagues and managers, my proudest achievement is receiving positive feedback from the residents – this is what drives me to work every day.”
With a Resident First approach, safety is always front of mind with the Storm team.
“Communication is key, always. At Storm, we ensure we communicate as much as possible, so everyone is always on the same page. This way, we work together confidently and positively.”
While only with CGA a short time so far, Lisa shines in her role, proudly completing 20 online courses, and says she is passionate about personal growth and ensuring she’s providing older Australians with the best care possible.
